We are pleased to offer a range of basic tutorials designed to help people get started with their computers and to develop their skills later on
These courses are normally presented in your own home, using your own computer equipment (except for the ‘taster’ sessions for which we will bring along a small laptop type computer) and at a mutually convenient time. This is beneficial from the learners point of view as by using their own equipment there are no ‘skills transference’ problems. Also, the tuition is ‘one to one’ so there is no need to wait to ask a question or get the tutors attention as there so often is with other forms of learning.
If you don’t yet have a computer our ‘taster’ courses enable you try out a computer or the internet to see if you think it might be useful before committing yourself to buying one. We will bring along a computer for use during ‘Taster’ sessions, generally a small ‘Laptop’ type PC.
Many people are put off learning because they are afraid that their tutor will talk down to them or make them feel inferior. We treat all customers regardless of age, disability or level of experience with due respect and consideration.
Our range of courses includes:
1. Basic computer use (For absolute beginners).
2. Wordprocessing for beginners (Using MS Word, Works or Open Office).
3. Spreadsheets for beginners (Using MS Excel or Open Office).
4. Internet browsing and e-mail for beginners.
5. Saving and backing up your work for beginners.
6. Computer taster session for those who want to see what computers are all about.
7. Internet taster sessions to see whether a computer and internet connection might be beneficial to you.
The list is growing all of the time. We are particularly hope to shortly offer courses regarding working with the Linux command line.
Each course includes approximately 1.5 hours tuition time in your own home/office plus a handbook.
Courses cost from £24.00.
We also offer new computer users the chance to have the basic computer course free of charge when they purchase a computer from us (subject to geographical limits and conditions).
